Manchester United are poised to make an €80million (£69m) offer for Real Madrid midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni, according to reports emerging from Spain. The Red Devils are aiming to overhaul their midfield options this summer, with France international Tchouameni identified as a key target, as reported by BBC Sport.
United are also considering several other midfield options, including Brighton’s Carlos Baleba, Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali, Bournemouth’s Alex Scott, Crystal Palace’s Adam Wharton, and Atalanta’s Ederson, according to The Athletic. However, Fichajes reports that the club are preparing a formal bid to test Real Madrid’s resolve regarding Tchouameni, who is highly regarded as one of the world’s leading holding midfielders.
Meanwhile, a potential alternative target, Elliot Anderson of Nottingham Forest, has been valued at £115million by his club, a figure comparable to the fee Brighton received for Moises Caicedo’s transfer to Chelsea in 2023, according to The Telegraph. Forest manager Vitor Pereira acknowledged Anderson’s talent, stating to Sky Sports that the player “deserves the best clubs in the world,” but also expressed his desire to retain him, noting the club’s aim to keep key players and add two or three reinforcements.
Tchouameni’s recent form has been overshadowed by an altercation with teammate Federico Valverde, resulting in €500,000 fines for both players from Real Madrid. Valverde required hospital treatment for a head injury following the incident, though he downplayed the severity, stating he accidentally struck a table.
United manager Michael Carrick has emphasized the importance of the upcoming transfer window, describing it as “the most important” in the club’s recent history, speaking to United’s official website. He highlighted the need for continued progress and acknowledged the work required to balance the squad following player departures, stating the club wants to keep moving forward.
