Tottenham scout AIK winger Zadok Yohanna as De Zerbi eyes repeat of Bergvall success
Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring AIK Solna winger Zadok Yohanna, with scouts from the Premier League club watching the 18-year-old in action last week, according to a report from Swedish outlet Expressen. The teenager featured in AIK's 2-1 Allsvenskan defeat to Degerfors on Thursday, a match in which at least two scouts from England were reportedly in attendance.
Yohanna, who has been touted as a future star for Nigeria, stated after the match that he was unaware of the scouts' presence. "I didn't know there were scouts here," he said. "I'm just focusing on myself. Of course I have dreams. But for now I'm 100% focussed on AIK." The young attacker, who wears the number 36 shirt once donned by Alexander Isak at the Stockholm club, is considered one of the most promising talents in Swedish football.
Degerfors coach Henok Goitom, a former AIK striker, was effusive in his praise for Yohanna after the match, telling Expressen the winger is an "exceptional" talent. "I love watching him play. He plays like he plays on the street," Goitom said, revealing he instructed his defenders to double-mark the teenager. "He is exceptional because he is a winger and you don't think he would be good in the air, but he is good with his head. He is good with his shooting. And the more experience he gets, the more dangerous he will become. Because he has everything."
Tottenham's interest appears to be driven by manager Roberto De Zerbi's desire to replicate the club's successful acquisition of Lucas Bergvall. The Swedish midfielder was signed from Djurgarden in early 2024 for an initial fee around €10 million and has since flourished in North London, with his estimated transfer value now soaring to nearly €55 million. That successful foray into the Swedish market is understood to have encouraged Spurs to scout for further talent there.
No formal approach or bid for Yohanna has been reported at this stage, and any potential move would likely be for the future, with the player emphasizing his current commitment to AIK. The club's strategy under De Zerbi appears focused on identifying and securing high-potential youngsters early, a approach underscored by their reported agreement in principle for Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi, who will be a free agent this summer. For AIK, developing and eventually selling a homegrown talent like Yohanna would follow a familiar and financially beneficial pathway.
